About Hedgerow - the ancestors - Bell, Pepler, Byatt, Scroop, Finn, Hintz, Milne,Nichols, Coxhead,Stern
Hello.
My name is Marie Byatt (nee Bell) and I am in charge of this hedgerow.

I first started working on genealogy to ascertain my exact relationship to
all the people that had been identified as 'cousins' by the adults around me.
As it turned out, some of those cousins were only related after traveling back
to 1820 or so. Because of this, my family tree resembles a hedgerow rather
than a single tree. Some parts are full and bushy with deep roots and other
sections are rather sparse. I keep working on the edges.
This hedgerow does not have the full names or details of living members. This has been done for identity security. Please contact me if you feel you might be a member of the hedgerow.
Portraits with the same color are in the same tree This hedgerow is also now serving as a one-name site for the surname Byatt (with spelling variations). I am connected to the family that starts with Edward Biart in Essex and that is the most developed line. However, in order to find his ancestors, I started 'collecting Byatts' hoping to find a 'loose' Edward. So far - no luck. But there are alot more parish registers to go through. I then decided to share my research into these extra families with anyone that has a byatt connection. Hopefully somebody viewing this may have some more clues for me. Many names are included here because I tried to find the common ancestor for myself and my distant'cousins' and then looked for all descendants as well as more ancestors. Also some of the 'cousins' asked me if I could look into their ancestors that I didn't share. I said yes and the hedgerow expanded. Main geographic areas are England, New Zealand and Australia, Malta, Canada, Ireland, Wisconsin and Pommerania. Photographs are being organized into geographic albums. The following are names with the largest number of individuals in each area. NAMES in ENGLAND - Allen, Bell, Byatt, Coxhead, Farmer, Golding, Griffiths, Madeley, Milne, Pepler, Scroop, Skinner, Tees NAMES IN NEW ZEALAND and AUSTRALIA - Coxhead, Mitchell, Sutherland, Sims NAMES in CANADA - Bell, Davey, Bolland, Griffiths, Nichols, Prior, Skinner NAMES in WISCONSIN - Bell, Finn(Phinn), Hintz, Jahnke, Luebke, Piehl, Rosenthal, Schattschneider, Stern NAMES in POMMERANIA - Luebtke, Hintz, Klippstein, Stern. ***** Please look at the 'Glimpses of the Unknown' photograph album. These are pictures I can't identify. Most are from the late 1880s and are what was known as cabinet photos. I have given what information I have in the title and description. Please contact me if they look familiar. I have been very lucky with cooperation from people and relatives. I would especially like to thank - Mrs. Bell - Mr. Derrick Byatt - Mr. William John Coxhead - Mr. and Mrs. Jahnke Mrs. Grace Power - Mrs. Isla Sutherland - Mr. Christopher Scroop - Mrs. Janet Dunn - Mr. Haberstroh Mrs Jeannette Lovesletten - Alicia and Lennard Nichols - And finally Mrs. Margaret Piehl - If you find that you might be connected to this foliage, please contact me by using the guestbook or the contact link in the first paragraph below the title. I'm always looking for new relatives and am always willing to correct mistakes. Note - If the maiden name of a wife is unknown, she is listed under her married name in lowercase-m. ex. If I didn't know my maiden name, I would be Marie byatt-m.
For those interested in the Pepler name (with spelling variations) - I have put up a website that deals only with it, In 1881, there were only 350 Peplers in the whole of the British census. About 120 were around Wiltshire and about 100 were around London, the rest were scattered.
